Privacy Policy

We write this policy in plain language. In short: we do not upload or store your files, we set no cookies, and we do not ask you for an account. Below are the details: what happens to your files, what we may collect, and which technical parties your browser contacts while you visit the site.
1. Your files
The PDF and image files you choose are processed inside your browser on your own device. They are not sent to our servers and we cannot view or store them. You can verify this yourself as explained on the Your files are safe page.
Two technical notes concern only your own device: when you receive files through the mobile share feature into the installed app, the files are placed temporarily in your browser's local cache to hand them to the tool, then deleted after use. And when you use OCR, a language data file is downloaded to your browser and kept temporarily to speed up next use.
2. What we collect
- No accounts or signup data. We do not ask for a name or email to use the tools.
- Server logs: our hosting provider automatically logs technical data about each request, such as IP address, browser type, request time and requested page, for operation and security. Retention follows the hosting provider's policy.
- Analytics (optional and off by default): if we enable a privacy-friendly analytics tool, it uses no cookies and records anonymous events such as pages visited, which tool was used and the language, never your file names or content. The site respects the Do Not Track signal from your browser.
- Contact messages: if you write to us, we keep your message and email as long as needed to reply and improve the service.
3. Cookies and local storage
The site sets no cookies. It stores only two local items in your browser: your light or dark mode preference, and the site's own files (through a service worker) so it loads faster and works offline after the first visit. You can clear them from your browser settings at any time.
4. Third parties your browser contacts
Even without uploading your files, your browser loads some resources from third parties, which receive standard technical data such as IP address and browser type, under their own policies:
- Google Fonts: to load the site font.
- cdnjs (Cloudflare) and jsDelivr: to load processing libraries such as PDF.js and the OCR engine (plus backup copies of two core libraries).
- OCR language data provider: on first use of the OCR tool.
- Hosting provider: which serves the site files.
- Analytics provider: only if enabled.
These requests load code, fonts or data into your browser; they do not send your files.
5. Advertising
We do not currently show ads or use advertising trackers. If we add ads in future we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires.
6. Data security
We serve the site over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Because we do not receive your files, there is no document database to breach. To stay safe on your device: keep your browser updated, avoid shared computers for sensitive files, and delete files from your downloads folder when done.
7. Your rights
Depending on the laws that apply where you live (such as the EU GDPR), you may have the right to request access to, correction or deletion of your data, or to object to its processing. Since we hold no accounts or files, the only data we may have is contact messages. Write to us and we will act on your request.
8. Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data about them.
9. Transfers across countries
The servers of our hosting provider and of the third parties listed above may be located in different countries. Their technical data is subject to those countries' laws and those providers' policies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time and will change the "Last updated" date above. If a change is significant we will highlight it on the site.
